Welcome!
The Karakachan dog is a local breed with ancient origins, intended for guarding herds of farm animals. A brave, intelligent, and unpretentious dog with a firm but balanced character, it is an integral part of the daily life of shepherds in our lands.
Having survived to this day, this national treasure is now threatened with extinction due to the declining share of pastoral livestock farming on the one hand, and on the other hand, crossbreeding with different breeds to achieve a more pompous dog that satisfies the trends in modern global cynology.
The NATIONAL KARAKACHAN DOGS ORGANIZATION was founded by like-minded people united by the cause of preserving the Karakachan dog, its type and working qualities, thanks to which it has survived over the centuries.
Since March 13, 2024, the organization has been a cooperating partner of the Bulgarian National Federation of Cynology (BNFC), Bulgaria's representative in the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI).
